The ATLAS and CMS experiments at the CERN laboratories successfully completed in 2012 a search which

lasted over 40 years for the Higgs boson. That particle is maybe the most elusive, and yet crucially important,

ingredient of our present understanding of nature at its most fundamental level. The presentation will review

how that discovery was made and what we learned in the process, as well as provide a look forward to the continuing

plan of investigation of the particle collisions provided by the Large Hadron Collider, in search for evidence of new physics. , un ipertesto fornito dal sito del CERN, che offre diverse opportunità di “further reading”
